Ayurvedic Immunization Schedule for New born Child

“Swasthasya Swastha Rakshanam” means maintaining the good Health of a Healthy person is the very first aim of Ayurveda. So The dictum ‘prevention is better than cure’ is not a new concept at least for Ayurveda.

The approach is totally different and gives prime importance to the management of Immunity based on its own philosophy and practice. Ayurveda covers broad spectrum of relevances responsible in occurring of disease such as Sharir, Nij, Kalaj, Deshaj, Sankramaka, Janpadodhvansa, Vishaj, Astanga-indriya artha samyoga, Pragya apradha etc.

Prophylaxis principles include Nidan parivarjan, Dincharya, Ritucharya, Virrudha ahar, Sodhan kriya, Rasyan management, Agniddeepan, Prakriti etc and even Kulaj which describes safeguards against many congenital diseases. Herbal medication under the taxanomy of Rasayan has in itself to say a lot about immunization

In Authentic text book of Ayurveda called Arogya Kalpadruma, its mentioned about the Medicines that should be given for a New born child till its 13 years of Age. The Idea behind giving these medicines is to impart Immunity to the Child.

One can compare this with the Modern immunization program for children or immunization Schedule. Now a days many have experienced difficulties with the modern immunization program for children. So here we are with an alternative from Ayurveda which is prmitive as 5000 years or more from the Pediatric textbook of Ayurveda called Arogya Kalpadruma, where a complete Ayurvedic immunization program till the child attains 13 years of age is described in detail as Prākāra yoga.

Prākāra yoga:- Prākāra literally means compound wall and Yoga means Medicinal Formulation. In together Prakara Yoga means Medicinal Formulations that are given as a preventive health care for child to protect the New Born from further Diseases.
